In 1980 Mister Mario Arizzi, after a significant experience in the manufacturing of brass, decides to undertake his own business giving life to his craft business. From the beginning, what characterized the company’s production are the high quality and craftsmanship in making valuable products, first designed, then played on wooden sculptures, then melted brass and chiseled by hand.

For over 35 years the Company manufactures products made entirely by hands in different styles.

That of the goldsmith is an age-old and challenging art that requires skill and precision but above all, love. Based on this premise, Gaetano Broggi, the last heir in a family of artisans who were experts in “gilding and silvering metals”, opened his first workshop in Via dei Mercanti d’Oro in Milan, in 1818.

The fame of his cutlery, flatware and sacred objects in silver reached the royal court of Turin, so much so that in 1841 the Duke of Savoy commissioned the Milanese artisan to gild the ornaments for his wedding.

While gilding and silvering were still done manually, Gaetano’s sons, Carlo and Serafino, decided to travel abroad to study the latest innovations in the sector. It was there that they experimented with the galvanic process, which involved considerable savings in terms of time and resources, thus increasing production and refining the qualitative aspects, to the delight of their traditional noble clientele and the new bourgeoisie.

It was 1866 and the company Gaetano Broggi e Figli inaugurated its new headquarters in S. Maria Fulcorina, where metalworking was combined with the production of flatware and cutlery. It was here that the silver alloy that soon made Broggi’s name famous throughout the world was created: a special amalgam capable of combining shine, extraordinary strength and significantly lower costs.

The Broggi company continued to grow until it moved to Piazza San Marco where, for the first time in Italy, Broggi began making cutlery and turning oval objects.

On June 14, 1872, Victor Emmanuel II granted the right to insert the royal crest on the sign of the headquarters as a supplier of the Royal Household. Just a few years later, a new innovation: Broggi discovered the dynamo for producing electricity and brought it to Italy to optimise the galvanic process. Soon the challenge of large supplies began for the family, starting with the hotel sector.

In 1875 the Broggi family were asked to create an original model of cutlery for the new Hotel Confortable opened in Milan by Marquis Flori. This was followed by orders for several other establishments.

For three generations in GIOVANNI VISENTIN creativity, care and mastery have been melting together to boost the gesture of the hand and to give life to unique and unrepeatable pieces.
Every detail is meticulously taken care of, from the purchase of selected timber, till the hand finishing of each individual item, up to the decorations. The whole production, from design to finishing, is developed and followed in the workshops owned by Visentin family, from manual operations to the most advanced five-axis processings, utilizing today’s advanced technologies.

SIZING AND PLANING

These operations are strictly hand-made, by expert artisans with an high level of knowledge of the materials. A job that puts the craftsman’s skill and the wood in close contact: there are still no technologies that can displace these skills.
This job requires great attention, all the wooden species are different in their qualities and defects, it is required to know them and to know how to work them. Each piece of wood is different in its processing and requires a sensibility that only the experience and the human hands could have, in order to enhance the beauty of the raw materials, using the right force and following the right direction, along the grain of the wood.
THICK VENEER

A “noble” alternative to the thin veneer, the thick veneer differs in the thickness of the wood that is glued on the panel. This ancient process has been evolved, thanks to technology, into modern veneer, which is characterized by wooden sheets with a thickness of 0.6 mm.
Giovanni Visentin, faithful to its origins and traditions, continues to use the thick veneer in its items, guaranteeing thicknesses of the materials higher than the ones ensured by today’s market standards.
CARVING

When we talk about carving, we immediately think about an ancient art and so, even today, in Giovanni Visentin the ancient knowledge and tastes are kept alive.
The close link with the world of art and antiques in Venetian area has allowed the collection of numerous samples and shapes that are re-proposed in current products.
The rest of the work is done by wise hands of skilled craftsmen, who, piece by piece, shape the different components of precious furniture.
ANTIQUING AND FINISHING

An extraordinary artisanal technique, that GIOVANNI VISENTIN knows in all its secrets.
The antiquing makes possible to reproduce the patina of ancient time, reviving it on the surface of wood: a work that must be carried out strictly by hand, because only the gestures of skilled craftsmen could take action on the noblest woods, to enhance their veins and to reproduce the irregular effect that reminds the one of surfaces designed by time with precise touches.

The Officine Gullo kitchens are created in balance between tradition and modernity. Every kitchen is equipped with avant-garde technology, inserted inside structures that have inherited the ancient artisanal tradition of metalworking. The beauty of our city that we are so lucky to live in is the element that allows us to mix together these two souls of our production: technology and style. The wonders of this land that inspires so many people every day, guide our magination every time that we start a project. The perfect geometries hidden in the facades of ancient buildings, in the frescoes, sculptures, artisanship are our models as we forge the metals of our creations. Nothing would have been possible without Florence.

ART AND ARTISANAL CRAFTMANSHIP
To understand the true value of an Officine Gullo kitchen, a brief trip to the laboratories where the ideas come to life is a necessary experience, other than being an extremely interesting voyage. Everything begins with the project, examined in detail with the client until all of the requirements have been satisfied. When the blueprints of the projects reach the workshop, work begins on the metal panels (thickness can reach 7mm). The stainless steel takes the shape of the drawers, cabinets and tops on which professional elements and appliances are mounted. In parallel the details are brought to life: work on the knobs, corner trims, hinges and mechanisms is manually carried out piece by piece by working solid brass billets on the lathe and milling the panels of the finest metals. When every piece is ready, the kitchen is assembled in its raw state to evaluate that all is perfect. This is a fundamental phase as this allows the technicians to check the precision of the pairing of the cabinets and the harmony of the project. The kitchen is then taken apart for the last phase, the finishing and the painting of the metals, where its final configuration takes shape. A careful and meticulous ork, carried out by master artisans, allows the kitchen in all its detail to become unique and inimitable.

Pratic, a supreme expression of Italian creativity, was founded in Ceresetto, a town in the rolling hills of Italy’s north eastern province of Udine. It is the 1960s. The company’s earliest efforts are marked by precision and attention to detail, perfectly applied to the first models of wooden-frame awnings. In only five years the first Pratic patent is issued, heralding the appearance of “dome” awnings on the market for the first time.

Continual research allows us to come up with new types of awnings that enhance outdoor spaces. The awning becomes a desirable solution not only to create much-needed shade, but also to attract new customers to public premises.

Giò Colonna Romano knows it well, when he founded SLIDE in 2002: his fancy fantasy matches perfectly with his thirty-year know how in the processing of plastic resins. The first note of amazement is the luminous furniture, which immediately became a must-have in the world of events. Since 2015, his son Marco Colonna Romano has taken over the company with his father’s same desire to grow and innovate. Thanks to a new spirit and the team of young people that work with him, SLIDE has become a beloved company for outdoor furniture: architects and interior designers from all over the world have fallen in love with the new ideas, shapes, materials and tactile textures. Indeed, SLIDE creates complete furniture and entire collections, thanks to the collaboration with some of the most famous designers of the world, such as Alessandro Mendini, Paola Navone, Fabio Novembre, Stefano Giovannoni, Marcel Wanders, Karim Rashid and Marc Sadler. We are at Marostica, Italy has just come out of the war and precisely on Mayday Vimar was founded. The scenario is that of a Country that has come out of a long war and has a great desire to rebuild.
The hat factory

In the early years of business the headquarters were an old property, previously a hat factory.  The idea, that was to prove successful, was to specialize in products for the residential use of electricity, based on elements obtained by moulding thermosetting resin.
Lamp holders and plugs

The lamp holder was the first, followed by plugs, wall sockets and iron plugs. Elementary products whose metal parts were partly purchased and partly obtained from sheets cut into strips with a simple manual rocker.
Pear switches

Before the fifties a product was launched that was to be extremely successful:  the pear switch, that for many years caused Vimar to be known goodheartedly as the "pear" factory.
